While not a Big L – Libertarian, Governor Christie of New Jersey (R) certainly earned his small-l libertarian stripes with his response to a question about funding education on MSNBC’s Morning Joe this week.
New Jersey was facing an $11 billion budget shortfall, Texas faces and $18 billion one. Unfortunately in Texas we seem to be lacking the political backbone to deal with it the way Christie has done.
Texas Republicans and Democrats talk about blue ribbon panels to find way to raise money to fund education. None of them talk about cutting the spending in the first place.
